Video Feature | Supersizing Your Impact with Science 37

Working with Science 37 provides the opportunity to connect with medical professionals from all corners of the medical community. The kind and humble Dr. Chris Reist shares his wealth of knowledge and experience on where he’s been, what he’s learned, and where he’s heading to help virtual clinical trials excel into the future in this short doctor vignette.

We’ve all had to make difficult changes to adapt to living in this pandemic. I was fortunate to be able to direct, shoot and edit this video during a challenging time where many media professionals were losing their jobs or unable to work. During this shoot we followed all CDC guidelines and Los Angeles safety protocols. Throughout COVID-19, running a small yet strong operation has provided me with the ability to continue to help individuals and companies share their stories through multimedia. I’m forever grateful for the ever-growing connections I’ve made throughout the medical community. My constant hope is that the work that we do together leaves a greater impact on this world.

This project was shot on two Fujifilm X-T3s with the powerful XF18-55mm kit lens and the XF55-200mm. They are two of the cheapest lenses you can buy from Fujifilm but the results honestly have been beyond satisfactory. For more videos be sure to check out my other videos HERE.

Video Feature | What's Good?! Safe & Balance with YOGAqua on Spectrum 1 News SoCal

We’re all just trying to squeeze in our daily workouts throughout the pandemic. While some of us are coming up short on our new year’s resolution - others are persisting they meet their goals in a unique & socially-distanced way.

Amy Paffrath, positivity guru & hostess of What’s Good?! on Spectrum 1 News SoCal invited me to bring my camera along for some additional footage on the above segment about YOGAqua - yoga on a stand up paddleboard. I even took advantage of the opportunity to take a board out for the first time myself (thankfully not shown in the segment!). It was a perfect day to soak up the rays and witness the fitness world from a different view - on the water!

Special thanks to Amy for busting me out of my comfort zone of shooting wildlife and doing something different for a change! For more What’s Good!? segments be sure to click subscribe on Amy’s Youtube Page - we can always use more good news!

Wildlife Feature | Snowy Egrets

Always on an adventure throughout California, I’m fortunate to come across so much beautiful wildlife - sometimes in the strangest little pockets of preservation.

Normally I only see a few snowy egrets scattered around, but just the other day there were about 6 or 7 all hanging around a drainpipe from one reservoir to the ocean where tiny fish were feeding of the drain as the egrets fed on them! Fun fact: A collection of egrets is defined by many nouns, including a "herony", "congregation", "skewer", "RSVP", and "wedge" of egrets.

Check out my video below to observe snowy egrets on the hunt while interacting with their environment.

SNOWY EGRET FACTS:

The snowy egret is a small white heron native to North, Central and South America. They can be found in wetlands like marshes, riverbanks, lakesides, pools, salt marshes and estuaries - where they’ll feed on fish, crustaceans, insects, tiny reptiles, snails, frogs, worms and crayfish.

They sometimes stalk their prey in shallow water, often chasing after it or shuffling their feet, flashing prey into view by swaying their heads, flicking their wings or as seen in this video - vibrating their bills in the water creating a ripple to attract fish. Their unique s-shaped neck only bends vertically, but not side to side.

The beautiful plumage of egrets was once hunted to decorate women’s hats - which brought the population down to extremely low levels. Now, they’re protected in the US by law under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act in 1918 and are now thriving.
