I first met Ebi Porbeni, curator of @NurseLifeRN, while engineering Katie Duke’s podcast Bad Decisions. We immediately clicked as he shared his dream project - a podcast for nurses by nurses telling stories about what it’s like being a nurse right now through the scope of what nurses have shared with him on instagram. His vision, reach and connection to the community have made this podcast, NurseSpeak, a force to be reckoned with.

NurseSpeak has now been successful in hitting the charts and staying there - residing in the top 100 of Society and Culture on Apple Podcasts for several weeks as of writing this. UPDATE 7/22/21: Many people are visiting this page because we’ve lost a beautiful human being to an absolutely fucked battle with Leukemia. At 33, Ebi Porbeni was in many ways a modern day prophet and inspiration to so many people all over the world - particularly the nursing community over at @nurselifern and the empire he built around it. He changed lives and delivered joy, honesty, humor and comfort in his messaging. He was a GREAT human being, fun to work with, and always meant well in his thoughts, words and actions. He even joked about his diagnosis, and seemed fearless in his pursuit of healing. It was a privilege getting to know the man and contributing efforts to a small part in his amazing legacy while joining in on the community antics.

I’m grateful we had the opportunity to capture the essence of who Ebi was in his podcast and hope it provides comfort in the following days for friends and family to hear his voice. Rest well, Ebi - you will be missed.
